BR is Leading the Way! Update re: BR Schools including Graduation & 2020-21 Info

Good afternoon:

Please see several important updates regarding Blue Ridge Schools:

GRADUATION

We are excited to hold one of two activities designed to honor the Class of 2020 tomorrow when graduates have an opportunity to wear their caps and gowns and cross the stage of the Tom Kean Memorial Auditorium, after having their name announced. Parents and siblings are invited to participate.

Seniors will then proceed to have a photo taken professionally, including their family, to memorialize this significant event.

Students earning special recognition, including scholarships, and other awards, will be recognized tomorrow during their visit to the high school.

The next significant event occurs May 29 at a drive-in style graduation. We are very proud of the Class of 2020 and wish each graduate the best in whatever path they choose!

REGISTRATION

Parents, please be sure to register your kids for the Upcoming 2020-21 School Year by logging on to our website at BRUSD.org. Please note, classes for high school students will be available for selection by the end of next week.

PREPARATION FOR 2020-21 SCHOOL YEAR

Admittedly, our hearts feel the weight of the unknown future before us. However, rest assured, while we do not have all the answers at the moment, I’m confident our schools and staff will be prepared to adjust to numerous scenarios, including an on-time start August 3rd, or delayed start later in the fall, or intermittent closures.

BLUE RIDGE LEADING THE WAY

Please note, our District has secured the technology and software sufficient to ensure each student is assigned a computer to complete online instruction at home if necessary.

The District is also preparing for the potential of implementing a hybrid schedule if needed, which includes a combination of face-to-face instruction two or three days each week coupled with online learning completed at home.

In truth, Blue Ridge students will have access to more technology and online content than most Arizona public schools of our size statewide. By August of 2020, Blue Ridge Schools will be among the few prepared to support online education for grades K-12 effectively, with each student provided a computer.

STUDENT & STAFF SAFETY

Most importantly, our team has worked hard to ensure upon return to school, each school, classroom, facility, and bus is cleaned and sanitized daily. The safety and health of our students and staff are top priorities.

WE ARE INTERESTED IN YOUR PERSPECTIVES

Please note, in the coming weeks, you will receive a survey seeking your input regarding several essential school issues. Your participation is critical to ensure our schools are prepared to meet the needs of our students, parents, and staff members. Surveys will be posted on our website to provide maximum access and participation.

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAMS

Lastly, our efforts to help support our community with a stable food source will continue during the summer. Some minor adjustments may be required to ensure the program’s sustainability throughout the summer months.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and participation in supporting home-based instruction. Rest assured, next year, our online learning will reflect significant improvements regarding both the technology, instructional resources provided to our teachers, and students, and the overall online experience.

Respectfully,

Mike
