Blue Ridge Schools K-12 Return to In-person Instruction 2-22-2021

Blue Ridge Families:

On February 22, 2021, all Blue Ridge Schools, grades Pre-K-12 return to in-person learning, Monday through Friday, according to our regularly established start and end times at each school.

Please note, students choosing to participate on-campus must adhere to all protocols and procedures designed to slow the spread of the virus, including proper mask-wearing while on any school facility. Students unwilling to comply cannot participate in on-campus learning and must remain online.   Anyone on any school facility must wear appropriate face-coverings while on campus.

Concerning vaccination, our staff has been strongly encouraged to receive the vaccine, with about 65% of our teachers having received both shots with sufficient times elapsed to maximize effectiveness. Many of our support staff members have also received the vaccine. Additionally, we’ve redoubled our efforts ensuring all safety protocols, including student mask-wearing, occur.

Furthermore, while we follow all cleaning and disinfecting protocols, despite our best effort, however, physical distancing (recommended by the CDC) in many instances is impossible because of the number of students in some classes and or the size of learning spaces (reinforcing the importance of mask-wearing). Also emphasized is frequent handwashing for all.

Finally, please note families wishing to remain online are provided access to distance learning for the 2020-21 School Year duration.

Despite apparent challenges and constraints related to face-to-face instruction and potential exposure to the virus, our schools remain committed to doing their part to keep everyone as safe and healthy as possible.

Thank you for your consideration and continued patience.

Respectfully,

Mike Wright
