BR DISTRICT UPDATE

Good afternoon Blue Ridge Families:

The Spring months are always busy, packed with activities, planning, and celebrations. We are thankful to announce the Class of 2021 will enjoy a traditional graduation ceremony! Our Baccalaureate and Lock-In activities will also be held in-person.

Next, please review important announcements regarding our staffing, schools, and upcoming events for the current School Year's remainder.

Foremost, our district will not experience teacher layoffs or a reduction in force. Due to proactive budget actions taken in 2020 and increased federal support through ESSER funds, our schools will not suffer the loss of teachers or support staff during the 2021-22 School Year. In fact, Blue Ridge is hiring!

For more information regarding job openings, please visit our website at BRUSD.org.

Moreover, there are several events planned during April and May you don't want to miss!

The Kindergarten roundup begins tomorrow, April 1, 2021, from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM at Blue Ridge Elementary. Parents with Kinder students are encouraged to visit our Kindergarten teachers, tour our Kinder facilities, and register their child.

Additionally,  we hold student pre-registration for grades K-12 at the district conference center/boardroom from April 13-15, 2021.

Parents/guardians are encouraged to pre-register their children for the Upcoming 2021-22 SY., beginning with our elementary-aged kids on April 13, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM.

Junior high students register on April 14, from 4:00-7:00 PM, followed by Blue Ridge High the next day during the same timeframe. Families with children at multiple schools may register all their children at once during any of the three meetings.

With the retirement of Dr. Gail Irestone, BR is hiring a new principal for our elementary school. On April 13 from 4:00-7:00 PM, a 'Meet and Greet' activity will be held at the High School East Gym (the gym next to the district offices and boardroom). We invite students, parents, staff, and community members to meet the finalists and provide feedback to the superintendent. We are holding this activity at the exact location and timeframe as the elementary school's pre-registration for stakeholder convenience.

Please note, each of our schools will hold Open House functions this year. Our elementary event occurs April 20 from 4:00 PM-6:30 PM, followed by the high school on April 26 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. The Open House for our junior high occurs the following day, April 27, during the same hours.

The following outlines our end of the year school activities during May:
