Blue Ridge Announcement August 27, 2021

Good morning students, parents, staff, and community members,

In response to the COVID-19 virus in our town and the surrounding communities, the District hopes to keep its schools, programs, and facilities open by taking the following actions:

  • Presently, all schools are in Stage I operations, meaning all student services, including transportation, meals, face-to-face instruction, and extracurricular programs, are fully functional.
  • If necessary, responding to teacher and substitute shortages, individual schools or the District may move to Stage II, providing transportation, meals, extracurricular programs, supervision, and instruction onsite via learning labs and course or class grouping.
  • Stage III responds to increased instructional staffing shortages due to illness, requiring K-12 online-only learning with reduced onsite services based on unique student needs. Extracurricular programs continue depending on individual team or club conditions.
  • Stage IV measures react to a school or district-wide illness outbreak and staffing shortages, requiring a complete closure of school activities and supports, including no online instruction.
  • Please note, schools may fall under different phases of operation depending upon their individual needs and circumstances.
  • Until further notice, mask-wearing remains strongly encouraged indoors when close to others but not mandated.
  • Student meals are provided free of charge onsite, with food delivery continuing community-wide during Stages I-III

Lastly, the District scheduled another onsite vaccination clinic on September 13, 2021, at the boardroom from 2:00-6:00 PM. All who qualify are encouraged to receive the vaccine to help keep our schools open and community safe. I appreciate your consideration.

Respectfully,

Michael Wright
