• The Blue Ridge Unified School District (BRUSD) is committed to ensuring the educational rights of all homeless children and youth, as defined by the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. This Act guarantees a free and appropriate public education to homeless students, regardless of their housing situation.
    Who is Considered Homeless?
    A homeless student is defined as one who:

      *   Lives in a shelter
      *   Lives in a temporary housing situation (e.g., motel, campground)
      *   Lives in a public or private place not designed for human habitation (e.g., car, park)
      *   Lives doubled-up with another family due to lack of housing
    Your Rights Under McKinney-Vento
